2018 Jaguar E-Pace

The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is a compact luxury SUV with a starting MSRP of $38,600. The E-Pace joins the midsize F-Type in Jaguar’s SUV lineup. With the E-Type the brand seeks to attract young first-time shoppers with competitive pricing, expressive styling and available sporty trim and options. The E-Pace rides on the same platform as the Range Rover Evoque, however it has been designed for sportier and more lively driving experience. Traditionalists looking for a prototypical Jaguar with classical styling should check out Jaguar’s very cool wagon, the XF Sportbrake. Being a compact luxury SUV, the Jaguar E-Pace faces very stiff competition from the top luxury brands. Does it have what it takes to stand out?

Pros: Standard AWD, Comfortable Ride, Spirited Performance, Great Exterior Styling & Interior Design

Cons: Fabric Seats Only On Base Trim, Boring Paint Selection, Intimate Cabin, Lacks Old-School Jag Vibe, Price Climbs Quickly

Looks Best In: Farallon Black exterior/Mars Red interior

Competition: Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Infiniti QX50, Audi Q3

Summary: The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is a compelling choice in the compact luxury SUV segment. It offers an expressive interior and exterior design, albeit devoid of traditional Jag cues (where’s the burled wood veneers and British Racing Green paint?). Overall, it comes across as a much more cohesive package than the Lexus NX and is much more modern than the aging Audi Q3. If your budget can comfortably extend north of $45,000, the E-Pace deserves a look for its engaging driving experience and craftsmanship.
